We offer Taekwondo (World Taekwondo style), and fitness kickboxing classes.
Currently, our Taekwondo and Fitness Kickboxing classes are geared toward adults and older teens (~16+). If you have a younger student who is looking for a live, virtual martial arts option, please check out our sister schools:
Yes! Students can enroll either in fitness kickboxing as a standalone activity, or in the full martial arts package which includes a weekly taekwondo class, and a weekly fitness kickboxing class. The two classes are meant to complement each other- the fitness kickboxing class offers an opportunity to apply your techniques and improve your strength, balance, speed, and coordination, while the taekwondo classes focus on an in-depth training of the Korean martial art.
We recommend attending classes at least weekly to see progress and growth. Attending twice (one kickboxing class, one taekwondo class) will support students in improving their overall wellness with more regularity.
If your comfort level is to exercise with screen off, on, or a combination of both, that's absolutely ok! James and Jenny do adapt their instruction to the needs of the participants, so screens on can help them adapt better to each student specifically. If that feels intimidating or just not a good fit, screen off is totally welcome- just be sure to touch base with your instructor if there are any needs you might have or that come up while training that they wouldn't be able to see. As students begin to progress in taekwondo classes specifically, screens on will become more important, and the instructor is happy to come up with a plan with you to ease into screen-on learning.
In Taekwondo class, students will learn fundamental techniques such as stances, strikes, footwork, and kicking drills, with a focus on proper form and technique. They'll practice forms (Poomsae) to build coordination, balance, and discipline, while also learning basic self-defense applications. The classes also include physical conditioning exercises to improve strength, flexibility, and endurance, alongside drills for balance and agility. Virtual sparring techniques and drills help students develop timing, distance control, and strategic thinking, even in the absence of live sparring.
Alongside physical skills, students will explore the mental aspects of Taekwondo, such as the five tenets (courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit), and how to apply them both inside and outside the dojang. Online classes offer flexibility, allowing students to practice at their own pace while receiving personalized feedback and assessments from instructors. The virtual format also fosters a sense of community, enabling students to connect, engage, and motivate each other, all while tracking progress toward their next belt level.
You can read more about Taekwondo under the "About" dropdown menu.
Absolutely! We encourage all interested students to take advantage of our free trial class before signing up as members.
You can sign up for a free, private trial class here.
In our private trial class, instructor and student will have a chance to meet each other and ask questions. Then, we will check our audio and video set-ups to ensure that we can see and hear each other well, and make sure that the student has a small, open space to practice in.
Next, we will go through a "mini" taekwondo or fitness kickboxing class (or a little bit of both!) that mirrors our regular classes. Taekwondo trial classes will include some basic taekwondo positions and words (attention, bowing, ready, etc), a warm-up, direct instruction of a few basic techniques, and a chance to apply them. Fitness kickboxing classes will follow a similar format.
Students do not need any prior martial arts knowledge or experience, and should wear comfortable clothing and be barefoot (training shoes ok for fitness kickboxing).
YES! We are passionate about giving all people access to high quality training and enriching activities. Students not only strengthen their bodies by learning martial arts, but they grow mentally, emotionally, and in character: benefits that will positively impact a student in all areas of their life.
Many students are not able to access in-person training for health and/or location constraints, and training virtually can give these students access to the amazing benefits of karate- right in their living rooms.
We have been teaching virtual martial arts successfully for nearly two years, and have had the pleasure of bringing martial arts instruction to over a hundred wonderful students from all over the world who need virtual access.

Our adult fitness classes will incorporate:
Many cardio kickboxing classes do not teach proper form behind hand strikes and kicks, which can lead to injury when done in repetition. While we will be spending the majority of this class working up a (fun!) sweat, some explicit technique instruction will be given so that students are practicing techniques safely, and also so that they can learn a bit of a practical skill on the side (a little self-defense and striking knowledge never hurts!).
While this class will incorporate kickboxing strikes, kicks, and movements (along with instruction on proper technique), this is a hybrid martial arts and fitness class. We will utilize kickboxing techniques along with other strengthening, cardio, and conditioning drills to break a sweat and have fun doing it!
Taekwondo:
To start out, students just need comfortable workout clothing to train in. Uniforms are encouraged shortly after beginning training (which will include a white belt). Additionally, students will need a roll of electrical tape (for belt striping), subsequent belts as promotions progress, and at advanced levels, a striking bag or pad and hand pads, a bo staff, and nunchuks. A full body mirror is recommended, but not required (such as the narrow economical versions sold at Walmart and Target).
Fitness Kickboxing Classes:
You will need a small amount of clear floor space, and a set of lighter weight dumbbells (recommended between 5-10 pounds depending on your history with lifting weights).
Optional equipment: a yoga mat, a standing or hanging bag with gloves if this is something you typically like to train with. If you have other equipment like resistance bands, kettle bells, weighted balls or balance ball, or other sized dumbbells, feel free to bring them and we can certainly integrate them into your exercises.
A note on pad striking: we will be focusing on doing strikes in the air, but if you are acquainted with pad striking, or have a pad and would like to be acquainted with how to strike, Jenny would be happy to offer a workshop on how to safely strike your pad- that way you can utilize it in class if you would like!
All Classes:
Students will need a small, clear space to train in, a device with internet connection, a webcam, and microphone.
